High in the big blue sky lived Nimbus, a fluffy white cloud who desperately wanted to rain like his friends. He puffed, wiggled, and squeezed, but not a single drop fell. Below in a garden, a little girl named Lily looked up holding her red ball. "Hello! Can you help my thirsty flowers?" she asked. Nimbus tried his hardest to rain for her, but failed. "It's okay," Lily giggled kindly, "Maybe you can do something else!"

A gentle breeze drifted Nimbus over a field of bright yellow sunflowers. He realized that by floating there, he was blocking the hot sun and providing cool shade for the flowers, who seemed to nod in thanks. Nimbus beamed with joy; he didn't need to rain to be helpful! He could offer shade and even make beautiful rainbows shimmer through his mist. He smiled, knowing he was special just the way he was.
